It does! Wow, Maribeth, I’m very excited to hear from you!! You missed me by two weeks. I have been in Second Street since the beginning of August at my parent's house. I drove my electric car from the Pacific Ocean to Waterford. I got your number from Tonya on Instagram and texted you a few times but never heard back. I’m so bummed that I missed you. We could’ve hung out a lot this summer. Alas, for some reason, the universe did not make that happen. So now that you’ve texted me and I’ve replied, I have you added to my contact book so you can get through to me 😁👍 Then, a week ago, last Monday. I took off from Waterford tonight. I am in St. George, Utah. I’m returning to Ojai, California, to coach my son Darragh in his senior year varsity soccer season. I’ll be in at least until the beginning of March. Then, Darragh graduates at the beginning of June. I’m not sure what my plans are for next summer. Things are up in the air for me as my wife of 24 years is divorcing me. I’ll leave that there, and if you want to ask questions, please do. I am open about things and unashamed of my life. I’ve battled with depression for the last ten years, very, very hard. I wanted to check out many times over the past decade, but the idea of passing my misery onto my children is something I can’t let happen, so here I am 😁 I attached some recent photos of myself from this summer; you’ll see I don’t have a mullet anymore, ha 😂 Please let me know how things are going for you. Hi Maribeth! I sure did. I made it here late Saturday night and have been enjoying 80° afternoons that are sunny and sweaty on the soccer field 😅 I’ve attached a photo I took last night of me and my fat beard. On your left, over my right shoulder, is my 20-year-old son, Declan Mahoney, and over my left shoulder, tear right, is my youngest son, Darragh Mahoney, who is 17 and the senior right now. My oldest, Aidan, is in San Diego, living with his girlfriend and many other friends. It's a very 20-something thing to do, and it’s exactly what I did after I moved out from my parents. I hope all is well with you.

I am at a campground all by myself about 20 minutes from the Pacific Ocean up in the mountains. I’ve been doing the hermit thing for about 3 to 4 years now. I’m pretty happy just by myself, although there are times when the feeling of loneliness will get pretty hard-core. But it passes like the clouds do and right now things are fair to OK.

Yes, Catholic. I lost me way for several years; only going to Mass on holidays or specific occasions. But, I never stopped saying my prayers or keeping faith in my heart and soul. My heart has been pulverized in a blender and I e questioned why I cannot find happiness and contentment. Instead I find comfort and solace in helping others - I’m good with this ❤️

I lost myself in family, fatherhood, marriage, and coaching. I continually looked outside myself for validation and worth. I was blind to it and fell into the deepest depression of my life. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for my 3 boys. I couldn’t let them carry my pain for the rest of their lives. I live one day at a time. I stay present in the moment and work to not “time travel” to the past or future. I meditate every day and have been at it a few years now. It’s good medicine, however the cup overflows from time to time and requires me to double down on meditating. I can reach a state of stillness where I don’t feel the edge of my physical body and space. It just energies and vibration. 😊

The team is looking really good but we still need to figure out what players work in the best positions I will be refereeing the game today because of a referee strike in California for high school soccer My sons team will be in the dark green. He will be number 33 with blonde hair. His name is Darragh. 😁

😂 We lost 2-1, against the school that is six divisions higher than us. We are division seven which in California is the lowest division for the smallest schools and we played a school from division one for the largest school so their talent pool is really large. We have another friendly tomorrow at 3:30 against the local public high school, Nordhoff. It’s always a great game and the winner has bragging rights.

Mosquitos, same. Solution: citrus based essential oils, like Lemon, Orange zest, etc. Harmless to humans but ALL the bugs, mosquitos, no-see-ums, etc all HATE essential oils. Take a small spray bottle, fill with water, put 15-25 drops in based on how strong you need it. They spray all over yourself. You smell great, and no bugs!

Hello👋 Yes, I got home shortly after 7pm last night - glad to be home. Honestly, I don’t feel like I live in Waterford. For the past 27 yrs I e spent countless nights traveling up/down I-95. I’m on the road 50%-60% of my work week. Then I winter in FL for 3 months with my parents - now it’s just my mom since my dad passed away last year.

There are times when I pack 2 suitcases…. I take one with me and leave the other by my kitchen door because I’m coming home from one trip and immediately leaving for the next. Ahh, “busy season” makes sense. Weirdly that seems counterintuitive as most people go on vacations in summer. I would think it would be hard to dependably connect with people coming and going from vacations. Darragh is incredibly excited. Will be his first time, living away from home, and his home is a boarding school for highschoolers. So there’s a weird twist in there. 😂 My oldest lives with his girlfriend in San Diego, Aidan and he’s 24, Declan, who is 21 is my middle guy and he just finished getting his associates degree and is looking at a four-year school, but he’s at home with his mom and Darragh for the summer, and Darragh, who just turned 18 two days ago Wants me to coach him this summer and help him train so he can walk on for soccer at Lewis and Clark. Darragh is an amazing soccer player. Incredibly fast, high soccer IQ, he can see the game really well and has a hell of a shot with both feet, he’s about an inch taller than me or two actually so he’s 6 foot solid and VERY strong having grown up with two big brothers, and it was a barrel of monkeys Aidan is 62 and Declan is also 6 foot two almost 6 foot three. So all my boys are taller than me. Which is fantastic. I love it that way I can be a little old man. 🤣🤣🤣 My parents were out here for Darragh’s graduation and it was great to see them. Of course they’re begging me to come back. But. Wanting me to be here to help him. I can’t turn that down. It’s the last time. I’ll probably be able to spend this much consistent time with him for the rest of his life. Crying now Damn didn’t expect that to hit so hard. Once he takes off to school he’s on his way to his life. 😊

Have been applying to places for many roles. Looking for a remote position. Thinking of buying an electric Sprinter with a house on wheels. Van 🚐 Life. Being remote I can travel anywhere anytime and keep working. So visiting my boys, or family in Colorado or family in NY, I can literally drive my whole life there.

I love an excursion van! One of my key accounts just asked if I’d be interested in heading up a mobile training program for pipeline coatings. They want to trick-out a Mercedes excursion van with the tools and equipments necessary to do mobilized manufacture qualified training classes with utility companies - think PSG and other natural gas and oil companies. They do about 100 training events every year up and down I-95. This is my kind of gig 😁

I got my degree in fine arts as a painter but put down my brushes after graduation because I got on the computer and started doing digital design and then the Internet came along. Funny you mention the Greatful Dead, there’s a decent tribute band that just played at the Hawthorn in Washington DC 2 weeks ago. A friend of mine went… he’s a total deadhead. He’s 71…. I guess I relate better to people with older, kindred souls

Walks are definitely good, I can attest to that because I’ve hiked thousands of miles out here on the West Coast and hiking is one of the things that clears my mind without question. That being said I can also say that meditation provides a different type of peace and quiet than long walks or hiking does. For one thing it’s sustained. The effect from hikes tends to come and fade pretty quickly whereas once I start feeling it from meditation like I am now now as long as I keep meditating it will persist, the chillness

I would honestly suggest starting out with a three minute meditation. Three minutes in the morning and three minutes in the afternoon or evening. The idea is to build a practice, and that means practicing every day. So the challenges more developing the habit than it is Meditating for three minutes

And three minutes is totally manageable and I think measurable. What I mean by that is three minutes is a short enough period of time that as you get better at quiet the mind and sitting in the stillness you will notice the contrast between that way of being and the chatter mind type of being
