Aidan headed off for his first day in first grade today. <!--more-->
What a big day for Aidan as he started the first grade today in Mrs. Kirkmire's class. The whole family headed off to bring Aidan to school--Mama, Papa, Declan (who didn't have preschool today because it was Thursday, he goes on MWF) and Darragh.
When first arriving at school the family was greeted by the new third graders at the gate. Aidan immediately ran into his classmates, all of whom were classmates in Kindergarten. He was so excited to see everyone. Then Aidan headed off to the first grade classroom to hang his bag on his hook and, along with Declan, headed off to the playground while Mama and Papa talked with the other parents of Aidan's classmates.
In their traditional, and distinctive, cowboy boots Aidan and Declan managed to keep up with everyone on the playground. Eventually all good things come to and end and Mrs. Kirkmire came out to ring the bell to have the first graders come to their first day of class.
All the students lined up outside the door with all their parents looking on. There was an overall expression on each of the faces of the new first graders, trepidation. The look of not knowing what was going to happen next. Mrs. Kirkmire then had all the students march into class and sit at his or her own desk and take their places. She then said goodbye to the parents and shut the door. Aidan's first grade experience was fully underway.
After the door shut Mama, Papa, Declan, and Darragh stayed and talked with others on the playground. In Declan's case he played like crazy.
When Aidan came home that day he said he had a great day. He had homework too!
