How To Play
Touch Hockey brings classic table-based air hockey to your iPhone. Players use their mallets to knock a puck into their opponent goal. The first player to reach the set number of points wins the match. The first player to reach the set point limit wins the match.
Game Settings
Choose your options from 1 player (playing against the computer opponent), 2 player (playing a head-to-head match-up against a friend on the same screen), or 2 player Wifi (playing a head-to-head game against a friend on the same Wifi LAN node). Goal size determines game difficulty for both you and the computer. A smaller goal is harder to knock a puck into and easier to defend, while a wider goal is easier to score into and harder to defend. As you progress in skill, choose a larger goal size for yourself to increase your challenge.
Depending on how much time you have to play, you can select from 5 to 11 point games.
Touches
Touch the screen to move your mallet and begin play. The puck reacts to your mallet as it would in real life - a faster hit will increase the puck velocity, and the puck direction is based on what angle you strike at.
Once a game has begun, you can return to the main game menu by double-tapping in the center of the screen.
1st Point
When starting the game, you can choose who gets the puck first by simply tilting the iPhone or iPod towards the desired player for about a second. The puck will move to that players side and the direction arrow will rotate to indicate the starting player. Once a match has started, service direction is determined by the last player to win a point - win a point and you receive the next puck.
Match Point
A warning is displayed when the point before the end of the match is reached. If you are behind, pay attention - the pressure is on at this point or you're about to go home in defeat!
Win or Lose
Of course everyone who plays is a winner, but only one winner of the game will get the "You Win!" message. Read into that what you want - "Try Again!" to see if you'll do better next time!
Tips & Tricks
- When playing in single player mode against the computer, if a friend wants to join in they can simply join the game in progress by taking control of the computer's mallet. If they need to leave the game, the computer will take over the mallet about a second after their finger leaves the screen.
- Set the computer's goal to wide to make it easier to beat. Also like a person, the computer makes more mistakes when it has to move the mallet quickly from side to side. Try not to miss the puck yourself when you're going for the winning shot!
- When playing a network game, double-tapping to pause the game ends the match.
