The Settings panel lets you configure Air Sharing to suit your workflow.
Sharing
The Sharing controls let you turn Air Sharing's WebDAV server on and off, and to choose a network Port. You should leave the Port set to its default value, 8080, unless you are having trouble connecting and have reason to think that port 8080 is in use or is being blocked.
Sharing Security
Turning on Require Password and entering a user name and password protects your private data
from unwanted observers.
If you turn on Public Access, other people can still access files in your Public folder. To
access them, guests can connect to your Air Sharing address, with /Public appended to the end.
Application Lock
You can optionally assign a passcode to protect local access to your files. A passcode is a four-
digit numeric code. If you turn on the application lock feature, do not forget your passcode.
If you forget your passcode, you will not be able to access Air Sharing, and will have to reinstall
the application.
When the Application Lock feature is enabled, you will need to use your passcode to launch the Air
Sharing app, to turn off Application Lock, or to change your passcode.
Sleep Control
The Allow Sleep option controls whether you want to prevent the phone from sleeping
altogether—this is a good option if you have the phone tethered or plugged into
AC power—or allow the phone to go to sleep after some preset amount of time has
elapsed since the last access to Air Sharing.
Sleep control does not allow Air Sharing to serve files in the background while
running other applications; it merely prevents the phone from going into Auto-Lock mode
while it is in use.
Viewing Options
Two advanced features let you control how files will be displayed in the Air Sharing file browser: Show File Extensions and Show Invisible Files.
Show File Extensions
This switch determines whether file names are shown with or without their extensions, for example, whether X.dat is displayed as X.dat or simply as X. By default, Show File Extensions is on.
Show Invisible Files
Turning this on lets you view files that would ordinarily be hidden. By default, Show Invisible Files is off. Most users will not need to turn this switch on.
Photos
A Photos options panel lets you set settings for the Slideshow feature. You can set the duration for each slide, whether the slideshow will Repeat (play in a loop), and whether or not images should Shuffle (play in a random order).
Mail Log to Avatron
A "Mail Log to Avatron" button can be useful if you are having connection difficulties. This feature collects some diagnostic information about your current settings and network environment, and launches the Mail app so that you can send this information to Avatron's support engineers. When you send a log to Avatron, please describe the problem that you are seeing, include the operating system and version on your computer, and list any error messages.
